Medieval Oslo - From Ashes to Rebirth

Are you looking for an off the beaten track adventure in Oslo? Great news! Your hunt ends here. The medieval town of Oslo burned down in 1624, causing the city to be rebuilt many miles away. Thankfully, archaeological evidence from the city's first site can still be seen today. Beginning with the remains of a medieval church, our tour of East Oslo will bring you on a journey following the footprints of the people who helped rebuild what was turned to ashes 400 years ago. Hear the story of a cemetery known for being the resting place of hundreds of seamen and see a 500-year-old hospital that saw an epic battle against the Swedish army. We'll even throw in some Vikings too! To top it off we've include the tale of a world-famous Norwegian artist who in this area found inspiration for his most prized work, can you guess whom?
