Valletta - City of the Knights

The first of our Valletta tour collection introduces who the Knights Hospitallers aka Knights of the Order of St. John were, how and why they first came to Malta in 1530, after having been evicted by the Ottomans in Rhodes. You will also learn why the decision was taken to build the fortress city of Valletta, the oldest surviving completely planned city in Europe and which was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1980. During this tour, we will walk you through the city main gate, heading towards the statue of Grand Master 'Jean Parisot de Vallette', whom the city was named after. We will walk past the chapel of Our Lady of Victory to arrive at Castille Place, the highest point of the city. The tour will end at the Upper Barraka Gardens which offer amazing views overlooking the impressive Grand Harbour. Time to explore in 360!
